"It seems rare these days to have an album where there are no duff tracks but Jenny Beck has achieved it with 'On The Outside'. She has a voice that seeps inside your soul and resonates with warmth and passion and clarity. It's clear from the whole album that Jenny is gonna be here for the long term with her lyrics drawn from personal experiences showing that she understands and can relate what it is to be human".

"The tracks vary in style and particularly memorable are 'Shoot Him Down' - the quirky title track 'On The Outside', the self affirming 'Be Yourself' (something I keep telling people, after all it's what we all do best!), the gentle 'Tonight' and the song which first drew me to Jenny's compelling vocals 'Somebody' which speaks of being there when it counts for that someone special".

"I'm not going to blabber on with clever phrases but simply recommend that here is an album you won't be disappointed with. If you like the tracks on her 'myspace' page (see link in my top friends) you'll definitely want to get your hands this album. Jenny gets a big "Yeah baby, Yeah!" from me! - what is she gonna get from you?"

- "Austin Prowess" (also visit www.austinprowess.co.uk)

"The song "Somebody" is totally getting to me! I reckon it's single material if released at the right time of year. Keep doing your own thing cos you've got something very special inside of you that shows in your songwriting and your performance. Your lyrics have been hitting home. Make no mistake, you're very perceptive as a lyricist, never mind as a composer and performer. Keep producing your exceptional work - it strikes right through to the heart".

- Comment from MySpace.com

"Jenny Beck’s music while pertaining to Acoustic Rock has many other influences including Blues, Jazz, DJ hooks and even some classical roots. “Shoot him Down” the hit single off, “On the Outside” is a very well thought out song. “Lord tell me what have I done? Tell me what’s my crime? Was it just by being at the wrong place at the wrong time, that I had to shoot him right down?” And that’s exactly what she does as a songwriter –Her words are like little bullets that hit you with a beautiful intensity and surround you with a story and melody that will leave you wounded for days on end. Nearing the end of the song she sings, “I fell into his arms and had to confess.” This is what Jenny Beck is all about. Unlike a lot of artists these days Beck delivers a melodic narrative that demands your attention and encourages you to search for a hidden truth behind a closed door, but I have to confess, right before I got there – she shot me right down".

"On The Outside is an awesome album! Jenny's guitar playing, voice and song-writing is really amazing! She's an up and coming new star with a unique sound and personality. In addition the production on this album is really strong. At times Jenny Beck brings to mind a young Alanis Morissette. Can't wait to hear more from her! It's an album well worth owning."

"You have an interesting style to your singing, as you have the ability to change the way you sound, song by song. On a couple of tracks you sound a bit like Alana Miles or Suzanne Vega and a few times I have heard a bit of Billie Holiday in there somewhere as well. All good news to me, as these are three of my favourite artistes!"

"Having relocated to the UK in 2001, Beck has been constantly writing and recording material with her band and playing gigs on the circuit, and such hard-won experience shines through in the quality of her vocal. The dozen tracks here fall neatly into two broad categories; acoustic, country-tinged numbers and modern, upbeat pop songs complete scratches and samples. Beck's vocal fit both styles with ease, giving a bright and punchy sound that suits the poppier material and a subtle country overlay and tender vibrato that, when blended with subtle harmonies, really compliments the slower songs. So while some comparisons have been rather unsurprising (e.g. The Corrs, Sheryl Crow and "big sis" Sarah McLachlan), Beck is no mere copyist and displays a genuine talent".

"Jenny Beck's music on the releases "Morning Rain" and "Acoustic/Live" combines a clean acoustic song style with a delicate air of introspection, modern production warmth and a shimmering pop sheen. Jenny's music here straddles, pop, indie and folk with ease with excellent song writing and varied arrangements. "Acoustic/Live" is a an excellent set of music demonstrating how natural Jenny's modern folk songs sound in the live setting with just a guitar. Indeed of the music of hers that I have heard, this is my favourite. There is an intimacy that it is often impossible to achieve on an album but resonates throughout this music. Try the samples to hear a soft, lulling voice and gentle acoustic guitar combine into lovely songs that stand alongside those of modern singers like Cara Dillon".

"Great sound. Stunning voice. Beautiful Icelandic chords!"

- Shamir, radio presenter at BBC Radio Sheffield

"When you first listen to this CD you will think that it sounds like a folk/pop CD, but as the CD progresses you will hear a lot more different styles and influences, within the music. The music is soft, acoustic sounding, with some great little quite calming, relaxing melodies put into it and when you add the great crisp, clear vocals you are left with a great relaxing easy to listen too CD. This singer/songwriter reminds me a little of The Pretenders, Norah Jones, and The Corrs, at times. As the music progresses it sounds a little more soulful and sometimes it can sound more like pop or like R and B. Although the style changes a little the music is always upbeat and cheerful. Listening to this CD makes you feel great! The lyrics are particularly good at times too, as they are kept very simple and quite often tell you a short story that you can easily get lost in. Towards the end of this CD there's a slight change in music style...it sounds more commercial which means the songs have the potential to be hits, this isn’t a bad thing though as the key elements are still there, the great voice and the simple, but good lyrics. Anyone looking for great folk/pop then check this CD out - you will love it!".

"I have just finished a busy day and after listening to Jenny Beck's song "Morning Rain", it was a nice change.Very relaxing. Don't forget to have a listen if you have had a rough week. There is a message within the song.

I decided to review Jenny Beck’s song “Morning Rain” as the title caught my eye; something that I love, “morning rain”. There is something about lying in bed listening to the rain as I lay awake listening while the soft light wind brushes against the curtains.

The song starts off with a sound effect of rain; soothing and relaxing to the ears is what I felt. If I close my eyes, you would actually think it was raining outside. I really enjoy how Jenny’s descriptive lyrics bring a picture to the mind. In this song she incorporates her lyrics with the actual sound of rain. The overall feel is relaxing, appealing and inspirational. The chorus I found catchy as she is able to capture the audiences emotion and ….get them thinking. The message I received while reviewing this song was, “stop and smell the flowers”. The way she describes a typical day about people rushing around and not even seeing the beauty around them is realistic and true. It might be raining out but even though it is raining outside, there something refreshing and pure about it.

My favorite lyrical parts of the song are:

“Am I all alone in a beautiful place, is everyone else running around in a maze…If I could stop time I'd choose this one day…This Monday morning and it’s soft gentle rain. It’s just a quiet morning rain, I stop for a moment before I get on the train…I’m somewhere else but just for a while, I’m pure and free mother nature’s child…” “if only they'd stop and end their rat race, maybe they'd see this beautiful place…”

The song to me signifies that we have eyes and ears but do we really use them? Do we enjoy the beauty that surrounds us? Not many. Jenny has a soft but unique voice which captures emotions from her listeners. Her added harmonies create a nice overall tone which is relaxing to the ear.

Although the main instruments are drums, guitar and tambourine, it just enough with her beautiful voice. Yes, I am listening to the song and I am seeing a nice picture. I would compare her voice to a couple of my favorite artists such as The Corrs and Joni Mitchell although Jenny has her own uniqueness which is a good thing to have. I found the production very professional and done well. Give a listen to Jenny’s song, a Folk/pop song. I find this song very uplifting and enjoyable.

- Review written by Mary Gottschalk @ www.mp3unsigned.com

"Sweden-born Jenny Beck has a diehard fan in this writer. Her first two CDs, "Morning Rain" and "Live/Acoustic", were both terrific, and the hits just keep on coming with Beck's latest two song demo CD, "Forgotten Years".

Both songs featured on Forgotten Years are songs of personal reflection that we can all relate too. The title song, Forgotten Years, questions who has not looked at their reflection in the mirror and pondered on the years that have passed and how much they have changed?

While the second track Illusions is a song about a lover who is trying to figure out what she could have done to save her relationship. Both tracks feature Beck's unique ability as a composer and lyricist, who captures the human experience in mere minutes.

The team of Jenny Beck (guitar), Ian Latimer (guitar), and Mitch Deighton (bass, drums, and percussion) really compliment each other well. I love the folksy sound produced by the guitars. Basically, as I have stated before, another hit from the very talented Jenny Beck! Keep 'em coming!!

"From Sweden comes singer/songwriter Jenny Beck who will please fans of Jaime Kyle and Sheryl Crow. "Morning Rain" is Jenny's first album and it's not bad at all.

The title track 'Morning Rain' opens the album, this is a subtle track with the added texture of the real sounds of rain pouring down, its a nice laid back acoustic track aka Jaime Kyle, Beck's vocals are really good and this is neat pop song. 'Clouds' is a simpler laid back tune aka Joni Mitchell and Amanda Marshall, Jenny's vocals are really strong and this song is quite dreamy. Next up is the quirky 'Hello' and reminds me of Sarah McLaughlin and has a folky style to it and is a brilliant song. 'Dusty Roads' is even more uptempo with an alternative country twist, I did like the Southern style guitars on this track which one of the best cuts so far. 'Selfish' is a very uptempo but passionate acoustic track with intrusting musical arrangements, good song. 'Restless Traveller' is a more laid back and subtle ballad aka Jamie Kyle and is a beautiful track, Beck's vocals are gorgeous, fantastic song. 'Amy (American Girl)' is also a really good track, I loved the vibe of the guitars, this is strong and up there with the likes of say Heart crossed with Tori Amos, good stuff. ''Who Lights The Flame?' has the same acoustic guitar vibe as Extreme's 'Hole Hearted' only not so quirky as this track is more subtle with gorgeous country sounding vocals aka Sarah McLaughlin, a nice easy flowing track. 'Everyday Life' is more uptempo and pop sounding, the vocals come over like Stevie Nicks and this is a really good track. 'Caroline' is another subtle ballad where as 'The Running Boy' is like vintage Heart and is quite folky and acoustic and the last song 'Where Tears Don't Count' is another fine catchy pop/rock song reminding me of the band Texas, in fact this is a brilliant track.

A good album then, Jenny Beck shows tons of potential, her song writing is very good and she has a great voice, let's hope we hear more from this lady in the future"

- Review written by Nick Baldrian - www.aordreamzones.com

"Jenny Beck is a Sweden-born talent who’s life-long love of music pushed her toward a career in the field, and I am using the word talent lightly here. Beck showcases and solidifies herself as a definite endowed composer and singer, which her latest self-titled album confirms.

Beck's latest album is all acoustics – sort of like Unplugged. Beck’s composing and lyrical abilities are equal in style and structure to her previous release Morning Rain. The ten-song CD spans the emotional spectrum, touching on love lost, new beginnings, sorrow. Once again, I can’t help but think of Sarah McLaughlin, especially when listening to the first track, Four Seasons.

As with Morning Rain, Jenny Beck’s self-titled album contains many passionate, self retrospective songs each sung to with the utmost passion. An example of such a heart-felt track is The River, about a lost soul walking along the river and sorrowfully contemplating her life. The effect of the acoustic guitar behind the words of a defeated soul was absolutely haunting.

Jenny Beck, I’m hoping that someone out there in mainstream radio USA discovers the talent you have. Yours is a talent that needs to be shared and enjoyed by the world".

"26 year old singer songwriter Jenny Beck joins the ranks of "Entrance" next and stays in melodic acoustic territory with the seriously infectious and catchy "Morning Rain". First of all Swedish born Jenny has a great voice with a very warm folk tinged quality. This mixed with her mellow, melancholy but uplifting sound is pure bliss for genuine music lovers. It's like a cross between The Cranberries and Susanne Vega on holiday with The Corrs and Sheryl Crow. BUT She also mixes a lot of 60's influences in to create her own warm acoustic sing-a-long vibe that takes the country roads to melodic heaven. "I'm pure and free mother natures child".

Jenny has recorded, written and produced a full album in her own home studio with a little help from Ian Latimer (Lead Guitar), Simon Blight (Bass), David Burman (Bass) and Mitch Deighton on drums, synth and percussion ). At the moment she is recording a fully acoustic/unplugged album so watch this space for more. Beautiful, touching country tinged songs from the heart of a rising new talent".

"Very soulful, dulcet vocals with a Western edge that adds a distinct flavour to the songs. A lot of meaning and emotion in the vocals. Very outstanding".

"Brilliant, catchy, ethnic songs that would appeal to the UK and the United States market. The lyrics are very interesting and tell stories that captivate the listener".

"The songs are produced in a stunning manner. Excellent acoustic guitar playing. Bass and drums compliment the songs and vocals very well".

"Jenny is very talented and has a distinctive edge to her that will survive in the industry. She will evidently go far".

"Clear-voiced and slim balladeer, Jenny Beck displays a wide spectrum of skills as she sang, wrote, produced, engineered and played rhythm guitar on her highly enjoyable and promising new 12 track demo. With the competent team of Ian Latimer, Simon Blight, Dave Burman and Mitch Deighton in instrumental backdrop, she kicks off with 'Morning Rain' and concludes with 'Falling'.

It's a very listenable piece of popular art. She writes and sings extra well. Good quality and enjoyable...So, well done her. There's sure to be more to come".

"Jenny Beck is a very talented young artist from Sweden, who is a combination of Suzanne Vega and Sheryl Crow and a huge piece of herself. From the moment you start listening to her CD, you will fall into an emotional/relaxing stage and just sit there absorbing every word she is singing to you with her lovely, superb voice, which will stay with you for the rest of the day and make you notice small things around you, morning rain, shape of a cloud, saying ‘HELLO’, dusty roads, she will also make you see the beauty of the world.

She is a very attractive female artist, who has knowledge of music, engineering, songwriting, singing and life. The combination of all of these can give you the perfection that all of us are trying to reach. On her CD ‘Morning Rain’ you will hear a combination of folk/rock and adult alternative genres, linked together with harmonies of rhythm from licks of her guitar with a collaboration of a few great musicians such as Ian Latimer on lead guitar, Simon Blight and Dave Burman on bass and Mitch Deighton on drums and percussion. The CD is full of perfect tunes and everyday stories of nature, harmony, love and hope, but most of all, full of dreams.

She starts with ‘Morning Rain’ which begins with the sound of rain on a window and the sound of drums with percussion. It is a simple, lovely song about a quiet morning rain. Jenny makes you take time to turn around yourself and see the small things and not being selfish.

‘Selfish’ has a great guitar solo intro, followed by Jenny’s voice that tells you a story about selfishness of a person, who had everything figured out and is stronger than anyone, but… definitely a song to listen and find yourself in.

‘Restless Traveller’ is a song where Jenny has a really soft voice, voice of storyteller, wise man, who is telling us picture stories about dreams. The sound of the guitar and drums mixed with the melody of her voice will push you to travel.

And when she starts a story about ’Amy (American Girl)’ she opened a dream world, full of pictures and imagination. You can see Amy wasting her days working in a job she doesn't like, with no life in her eyes. Looking into her eyes shows you another world that she is longing for. And again you can get lost in her eyes and dreaming another dream. Jenny stops you and turns you to another song ‘Who Lights The Flame?’.

Jenny is a storyteller who is trying to open your eyes and makes you grab a life and try to make it. She is an Indie Female artist with a fire in her heart. A fire that will make sure that she will come out again and again and there will be no rain that will put her fire out.

You must visit her web site at www.jennybeck.co.uk and you will fall in love with her right away and you will not leave it until you order her CD ’Morning Rain’".

"Jenny Beck is a 26 year old singer/ songwriter that was born in Sweden but now lives in England since 3 years back, she has both produced, written, played the guitar and handled all the vocals on her first demo album "Morning Rain". Her biggest idol is Joni Mitchell and that can truly be heard on this *springflower* of an album. When I listen to her sing I come to think about the Corrs sisters with the folk/rock inspired side of her music.

This is acoustic based pop in the same brand as Tanita Tikaram, Joni Mitchell and The Corrs. What is interesting about Jenny is that she is currently working on her "real" debut album in collaboration with the former vocalist and bass player from Feeder for a release in fall 2005 (TBA).

This indie release is very short with 12 songs over a running time of 38 minutes. Jenny has a tender and positive voice and also writes positive lyrics. Still I wish to hear some of the songs with a more big budget production coz the album sounds a bit "lame". I hope she will re-record beautiful songs like "Restless Traveller","Hello","Morning rain" and "Clouds". She is very talented and could go far."

- Kaj Roth - Swedish e-zine Melodic.net

"Jenny Beck sent me a copy of her album so I could check it out. It has twelve tracks and is quite good. I have seen her style called "country", but personally, I would call it more of a "pop" or "folk/rock" style, I guess because there just isn't any "twang" in her voice. Don't get me wrong, she has a very pleasant and lovely voice, it's just not "country." Of course, there are a lot of folks around who don't think that Shania Twain has a "country" voice, but that doesn't stop them from buying her albums. There is one song, titled "Dusty Roads" which starts off with a very definite "contemporary country" Shania/Faith Hill kind of flavor, but is interjected with some spots where the sound effects give it a scratchy, old vinyl record sound which fits more with a pop or rock style.

The other tracks I really liked were "Restless Traveller", a medium-slow ballad titled "Clouds", "Hello", "Everyday Life", and "Caroline." Another song that will go over well with rock and disco fans, is entitled "Falling (Dance Remix)."

My overall impression of the album was that it makes for some enjoyable listening and intrigues me into wanting to hear the next album, which is due out in 2005 (TBA).

With all the talent this young lady has and with her great voice and it's pure, clean tones, she should do quite well in the U.S./Canada market as well as her native European areas. Bottom line? If you are "country" purest and need your
twang, I couldn't say you'll find it here. On the other hand, if you're just looking for good music, try Jenny Beck. You should be very pleased with your purchase.

"Sweden-born Jenny Beck has been interested in music her entire life. When Beck was very young, she learned the beauty of music, dancing to The Beatles at two, and spending weekends listening to Sixties and Seventies music with her father. Inheriting musical talent from her father, who played the guitar and clarinet, Beck took to learning the flute at a very young age and then took up the guitar while in Media School. A short time after earning a sound engineer diploma, Jenny Beck moved to England, where she started working as a temporary secretary. She soon realized that this was not the career path she wanted to take. She got into writing and recording, and soon began to receive terrific results, receiving great feedback and interest from major record companies such as BMG and Virgin records. I can fully understand why. Jenny Beck has a clear, melodic voice that reminds me of Sarah McLaughlin. Her lyrics are well-written and weave a story one can almost see. As I listened to the CD for the second time, I found myself singing along. I had picked up the words somehow – something that doesn’t normally happen after hearing a CD for the first time.

The songs on Morning Rain are light, but meaningful. My favorite track was Caroline, a story about a woman fulfilling a promise made by raising the child of a woman who has since passed away. The song is moving, the feeling easily understood.
I look forward to hearing more from Jenny Beck. If you are a fan of the Lillith Fair artists such as Sheryl Crow and Sarah McLaughlin, you’ll soon find yourself a big fan of Jenny Beck".
